For the Glory - The FAM
Today we held what is known in the travel industry as a FAM, or familiarization tour. Basically it's for tour operators and travel agents to sample a specific event or venue. In this case, Frank Wildhorn, Jack Murphy, the producers and their respective spouses/significant others as well as Brandi Burkhardt and Michael Lanning presented six songs from "For the Glory". Michael sang "Brother My Brother", "Northbound Train" and "Virginia". Brandi sang "I Never Knew His Name" and "The Honor of Your Name". Finally, together they sang a new song, "If I Should Lose My Way". Let me tell you, it was one hell of an event. I have always been, and always will be, a Michael Lanning fan. From the minute I first listened to the Complete Works, I was in love with his voice. And for any of you who have met him you know what a great guy he is. Today was no exception. All of those involved mingled in the lobby of the theater prior to and after the performance. It was amusing to see them in the lobby before the show, where they went virtually unnoticed. Afterwards they could barely make it through without folks wishing them well or telling them how wonderful they were.
(like we're surprised)
Here's a picture (the only one I have so far) from the event of myself with Michael.
More to come...
