Opening Night!

What can I say? I honestly don't know. I'm speechless. Last night - June 17, 2006 - "For the Glory" officially opened at the Majestic Theater in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. After over a year of planning and weeks of absolutely insane chaos, "For the Glory" has officially opened. Last night was so exciting here in the 'burg. It felt like a Broadway opening, right here in Gettysburg. Okay, so I've never been to a Broadway opening, but I'm guessing this is pretty close to it. I'm not even sure where to start. The show was almost a sell-out, with lots of special guests including: Frank Wildhorn, Jack Murphy, Gregory Boyd (of course) as well as our producers - Pete Herber and Roy Miller (who just won 5 Tony's for "The Drowsey Chaperone" and of course our producer/director, Vincent Marini. Dave Clemens was here, as was Rod Weber from the Broadway production, Brandi Burkhardt from the "Jekyll & Hyde" tour, Frank's parents (love them!), his son Justin and a slew of other notables that I can't think of right now. (not to forget my own parents) The show was spot on. I don't think there was one number when the audience didn't applause. It's kind of interesting to watch from the back of the auditorium. During "River Jordan" it was like watching a bunch of bobble head dolls in the audience. They loved it. And during "The Glory", they didn't even have the last line out before the audience started applauding, errupting into a thunderous applause by the time they finished singing. It was truly, truly amazing.
The after show party was so much fun. Mostly (for me, anyway) because it gave me the opportunity to introduce my family to everyone I've been working with for the past few weeks. I'm very proud of this show - and even more proud of the fact that I'm a part of it. So it was nice for my family to meet everyone else who's involved with this production. And I've got to tell you, we've got one hell of a cast. The talent in this building is unbelieveable. One of these days I'll sit down and go over the song list with everyone, including my takes on each number. But unfortunately, I must run right now.

I hope everyone gets a chance to see this show soon!!

Tech Week...

...Has begun. Long LONG days for the cast and crew. Good for me because they're on stage and I have a direct link to the stage. So I can watch and listen from my office :-) I'm currently listening to Bart Shatto and Erin Mosher sing the new number, "If I Should Lose My Way". Absolutely beautiful song sung by two amazing people. I sincerely don't know how I'm going to get anything done this summer with this show going on....

Took the gang on a ghost tour the other night. They seemed to enjoy it. Some of the guys went back out after the tour with cameras. I'm not sure if they actually found anything. But I'm still waiting to see the pictures.

Oh, we've got new banners! There are two banners on either side of the marquee, as well as two big banners hanging in the front windows. As soon as I remember to bring my camera to work, I'll take some shots to post here.

I know I say this all the time, but I truly can't believe this show starts in 4 days - with opening night being just a week away. It's insane. Absolutely insane.

Wardrobe, Sets and a Day Off

The stage hands have been working their asses off getting this set together and I've got to tell you, it looks fantastic. I see it every day from behind when I come in to work, but I finally took a look at it from the front yesterday and was simply blown away. You will all be amazed when you see this show.

They were working on wardrobe when I came in today. Caught a couple of them walking around in costume. It was interesting to say the least. I'm just wondering how I can steal Tads hat without anyone knowing it was me....

Finally, a much deserved day off for the cast. I've got to tell you, these folks are busting their butts to get this show together. And they truly are a great bunch of people. I've been lucky enough to hang out with some of them and it just amazes me. I've worked in theaters before that were full of assorted stereo types and varying degrees of ego, but these guys really are a fantastic crew. I'll try to get them to stop by to say hello soon.

Cheers!
Amanda
