The Ghosts of the Majestic

So yesterday was interesting. Shortly before the show began, we started having problems with the lights. Not entirely unusual unless you're familiar with some of the MANY ghost stories coming from this rather small town. One of them being about a general who haunts the theater at Gettysburg Colege (which owns the Majestic) who frequently plays with the lights. So it would only stand to reason that he's moved on to the Majestic. But, I digress...

Due to our 'technical difficulties', we were unable to start the show on time. Luckily all of our guests were very patient with us while we worked through the problems. Eventually it got to the point that we had to call the show. The lights were showing no signs of stopping, or working properly again, any time soon. I had to make the announcement to everyone who had been waiting patiently in the lobby that we would indeed have to cancel the show and begin offering refunds and exchanges. What fun for me... Anyway, before I made the announcement, some of the cast members graciously agreed to come out to the lobby to thank everyone for their patience and ask them to return for another show. Well the next thing I know - and this is a testament to how wonderful this crew is - the entire cast is in my lobby and ready to sing. First up was 'Freedom's Child' followed by 'Old Grey Coat' and finally 'Northbound Train'. The cast was just phenomenal. The audience LOVED it! And the best part was, by the time they had finished their set, the lights were working again and we were able to do the show anyway! So these folks got to see part of the show twice.
I want to personally thank the cast for being so gracious in keeping our guests in such good spirits and anyone who was in the audience that afternoon for being so patient with us. It was a hectic afternoon, but made for one heck of a theater story!
