Thank You!
I have to extend a very big personal thanks to the cast, my fellow staff memebers and my team of volunteers. Yesterday was our first annual company picnic. All staff and volunteers were invited. We had planned a program to thank the volunteers for all of their hard work during "For the Glory". What I didn't know was that they were planning to surprise me with a presentation of their own. They purchased a large picture frame with one of those borders that can be used for signatures. You know - the kind you're always expected to sign at weddings. Anyway, inside was a picture of the entire cast - taken early in the season, backstage. On the frame, each of the cast members had written note of thanks. To me. Needless to say, I was speechless. And crying. It was one of the best gifts I have ever received. And it made me miss this cast even more. I knew they were a great bunch, but to think that they each took their time to say something so sweet and personal just takes my breath away. I love them all and miss them all dearly. June cannot and will not get here soon enough. I wish them all every success - because they deserve it. I just hope that they're all free next summer to come back to Gettysburg.
So, a great big thanks to my volunteers and staff for everything they've done. And a big thanks to Vicki for planning this. And of course, my thanks to the cast for being such an amazing crew.

That is really awesome!
In 1998, when FTG was The Civil War, I was doing my master's project on the development of the show. I hung around a lot and some of the cast were really great about talking with me and sharing their experiences. Toward the end of the run, I got a poster from the World Premiere and asked Michael Lanning if he would sign it (he was one of my biggest helps). "I'll go you one better," he said, and disappeared into the green room with the poster. He came back a few minutes later and told me to catch up with him after that show.
When I went back that evening, he handed me a poster signed by almost all of the original cast. And not just signatures, but personal notes of appreciation and encouragement in reaching my dreams.
That poster is framed and hangs on my living room wall to this day as a reminder of a special time in my life and a group of amazingly special people.
I'm so glad your experience was as special!
